Overall cargo theft is rampant and rising, with high-value electronics (including music gear) being a prime target, especially via "strategic theft" (fraud/cyber) and simple truck/warehouse hijacking, impacting manufacturers, retailers and musicians who face major financial losses from cargo theft

As the founding band leader for King Youngblood, it falls on me to make sure we are a tight touring unit. Our biggest fear on every single tour is theft. We hear the horror stories of guitars, expensive snares and cymbals and whole tour vans full of gear gone because theft is so rampant. GearGuard is the solution for countless touring musicians including King Youngblood. These small units can’t be detected like a Apple Air Tag given most everyone has an iPhone and when in the vicinity of an Air Tag the phone just notified you like crazy. But the best part is if something gets stolen we can use the app within seconds to track it – on GPS, Blue Tooth and online – all the ways to track – fast and accurate. GearGuard is not only giving me some peace of mind on the road – having the product made my musical equipment insurance company really happy and brought our rates down.

The worst happened to me. Not only was I not even on the road, I wasn’t even out of my house. Someone came and broke into my house and stole the pedal board from my bass rig. We were about to go on our next national tour. It was a nightmare as this gear is expensive. Fortunately I had a GearGuard unit in the gig bag with my pedal board. I called my band leader and he called someone at GearGuard and within minutes we had tracked the gear, called the police, coordinated getting to the warehouse with the police and busted the thieves. It was a little scary dealing with the thieves but the police were really grateful for the GearGuard system as it so accurately pointed to the location of my pedal board. The police found a ton of other stolen gear at that warehouse. Scary and Amazing.

My drum kit is deeply personal to me as being a professional drummer is my whole life. The best kit I ever had I won in a Guitar Center drum contest when I was just out of high school. The famous drummer Stephen Perkins was actually the MC for the contest which is wild since I met up with him just a few months ago after all these years when our bands were touring together. It was a DW Collector’s Series 12-piece worth well over $10,000. I was so proud to have been awarded this kit by DW and the Guitar Center Folks and it sounded awesome. The kit was stolen out of my car in a locked garage of my apartment building while my family and I were sleeping. Unreal! I never got the kit back and to this day I am heartbroken.
I wish I had known about GearGuard back then but I don’t think it was invented yet. Now I have a beautiful TAMA kit worth thousands of dollars that I take on the road with me with my band King Youngblood. You better believe I have GearGuard units safely tucked away where thieves can’t find them so I can track my drums if God forbid thieves get me again. Still holding out for DW one day to rebuild that original kit but meanwhile TAMA is great too!
